Your lid is correctly fitted if there is a complete brown ring around the lid and incorrectly fitted if there is a broken ring around the lid.

When a lid has not been applied correctly a broken ring appears around the rim of the lid. The part where it is broken is the part of the lid that is not engaging the cup correctly. It is this part of the lid that has to be adjusted.
